Cartoons sobre a Palestina: "Negociações..."

Nas roupas do palestino que o Judeu segura: "Negociações Indirectas"; nas calças do palestino: "Negociações Directas". 

Este cartoon foi copiado do site da Liga Anti-Difamação (The Anti-Defamation League), e encontra-se titulado como: "Anti-semitismo no Mundo Árabe. Cartoon da semana".

Como podem verificar o cartoon é "altamente anti-semita"... aliás esta classificação é muito esclarecedora sobre o conservadorismo e radicalismo desta organização.

A Anti-Defamation League foi fundada em 1913 "para impedir a difamação do povo judeu e garantir justiça e tratamento correcto para todos." Actualmente intitula-se "como a primeira agência de relações humanas e de direitos civis da nação [EUA], a ADL combate o anti-semitismo e todas as formas de intolerância, defende os ideais democráticos e protege direitos civis para todos."

De facto é hoje um dos lobbies de judeus-americanos mais poderoso dos EUA, com uma influência desmedida junto dos meios políticoe e da comunicação social americana, e que é responsável pela perseguição, ao melhor estilo do macarthismo de todos aqueles que de alguma forma se mostram contrários às políticas de colonização, de apartheid e de total desrespeito pelos direitos humanos da clique "nacional"-sionista que vem governando Israel.

Como contraponto podemos referir organizações americanas de Judeus que, como a JStreet ou a Jewish Voice for Peace, se batem por uma solução que traga a paz e a segurança para ambos os povos, palestinos e israelitas.

Judeus europeus pretendem quebrar o bloqueio de Gaza

Público - Judeus europeus pretendem chegar por mar à Faixa de Gaza

Frequentemente tenho referido a existência de organizações e de movimentos, judaicos, muitas vezes abertos à participação de não-judeus, que proliferam, quer em Israel - num esforço corajoso e heróico, contra a repressão sobre eles exercida - quer por esse mundo fora, e as suas iniciativas.

Não sendo judeu, pretendo com esta linha editorial:

• por um lado, combater o anti-semitismo que se vai gerando face a actuação criminosa, sob o ponto de vista do direito internacional e humanitário, de sucessivos governos do Estado de Israel - com a cumplicidade, diga-se, dos EUA e seus aliados e satélites - contra o Povo Palestino, que vê a sua terra sob ocupação militar há mais de 63 anos;

• e por outro, salientar uma das componentes do movimento de solidariedade com o Povo da Palestina, que tem vindo a crescer e se reforçar, no dia-a-dia.

Na Europa esses movimentos, que  não existem em todos os  países, têm-se mostrado, no geral, discretos e tem se integrado nas campanhas de solidariedade mais gerais.

Em Portugal não existe qualquer movimento autónomo e os judeus que são solidários com a Palestina, poucos que eu saiba, participam nas iniciativas que por aqui se vão realizando.

Nos EUA existe um maior dinamismo como é patente em organizações como a JStreet ou a Jewish Voice for Peace, cujos links poderão encontrar neste blog.

Diz o Público que:

"A iniciativa, Um barco judaico para Gaza, partiu do grupo alemão Jüdische Stimme für gerechten Frieden in Nahost (Uma Voz Judaica para a Paz no Médio Oriente), a ela tendo aderido outras organizações judaicas que afirmam representar "a grande voz alternativa dos judeus na Europa", e que entendem que o bloqueio a Gaza "é um acto altamente imoral, que obriga as pessoas a viver nas ruínas das suas casas".

Esta iniciativa conjunta dos judeus alemães, dos seus amigos da EJJP (European Jews for a Just Peace in the Near East) e dos britânicos, JFJFP - Jews for Justice for Palestinians é um marco na afirmação dos judeus europeus e um sinal que o governo nacional-"sionista" de Netanyahu está a ficar cada vez mais isolado.

Jewish Voice for Peace continua à espera de uma resposta

Passo a transcrever um comunicado que recebi hoje da organização Jewish Voice for Peace. 

Nele aparecem sistematizados os ataques aos direitos humanos, às liberdades, aos direitos cívicos e políticos que se estão a cometer em Israel contra cidadãos israelitas e as suas organizações e contra os palestinos e nele se pedem responsabilidades a organizações judaicas americanas por calarem estes atropelos

Nele são visados: o American Jewish Committee, The Anti-Defamation League, e o Simon Wiesenthal Center e os seus líderes, respectivamente Abe Foxman, David Harris, e o Rabi Marvin Hier.

Cinco dias antes do ataque mortal de Israel à Gaza Freedom Flotilla, pedimos-lhe que dissesse aos lideres Judeus mais importantes [nos EUA] para que se manifestassem contra o aumento dos ataques  aos direitos humanos e à dignidade em Israel. 

Ainda estamos à espera de uma resposta. Na verdade, quanto mais crescem e se agravam tais ataques, maior tem sido o seu silêncio ou a defesa de tais acções. 

Não podemos deixar que os líderes judeus que reclamam trabalhar pelos direitos humanos de todos nós, se mantenham  irresponsáveis. Devemos exigir que eles falem. Aqui está a carta-aberta que lhes enviamos.

I remember listening to my great aunt Tante Babe's heartbreaking stories of seeing her young cousin killed during an attack on thousands of Jews, a pogrom, in her city of Bialystok. That infamous pogrom was in 1906, the very year the American Jewish Committee was founded to oppose such attacks.

 

Feeling alone and unprotected, our family needed the American Jewish Committee.

Years later, I remember my parents supporting the Anti-Defamation League because of their support for Jewish refuseniks in the USSR. And then there's my grandfather who endured the extermination of most of his family at the hands of Nazis. He is why I greeted with enthusiasm the emergence of a human rights group in the 1970s named after Simon Wiesenthal, the famous Nazi hunter.

 
These Jewish organizations came into existence at a time when my family - and so many others - needed them desperately, and their contributions and achievements on behalf of Jews and non-Jews made me proud.  
 

But times have changed, and the missions of these groups have changed. All too often, advocacy for universal human rights has taken a back seat to their belief that they must support the Israeli government unconditionally.
 

For example, as I write this, it has been 22 days since Israeli citizen and human rights activist Ameer Makhoul was brutally taken from his home in the middle of the night, held without charges, denied a lawyer for 12 days, and most certainly tortured. All under cover of an Israeli media gag order. Regardless of the charges against him, which were only announced today, it is hard to imagine these groups remaining silent in the face of such outrageous repression in a modern democracy. Especially against an Israeli citizen.

Yet they say nothing.

The pattern is not new. 

It is painful for me to say that today these organizations - organizations with such a proud history of civil and human rights - for many of us have come to stand for the exact opposite. Sadly, I now find myself opposed to the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Simon Wiesenthal Center for dismissing criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic, for putting Israeli foreign policy above Armenian genocide recognition, for vilifying Muslims and Arabs, and for building a "Museum of Tolerance" on top of a Muslim cemetery in Jerusalem.

 

For many people, these organizations have not been relevant for a long time. You might be one of them. But we also know they continue to be an important voice for many Jewish people.  And we will always need Jews to be safe. That's why we must ask them to change just as so many Jews in America have changed.

My dad is one of those people who supported the Anti-Defamation League. But when I told him the role they played in silencing criticism when it comes to Israel, he literally tore in half a donation check he had planned to send.

I'm not asking you to go that far. But whether you love them or hate them, we have to call on them to change. We don't expect them to fall in line with everything you and I support, but we expect them to at least have a line when it comes to basic human rights and dignity. Please join me in asking the leaders of the American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Simon Wiesenthal Center to denounce the increasing government-sponsored violence in Israel and Palestine. As Jews and non-Jewish allies who believe in universal human rights, we all have a right to demand that they speak out.

 
Because they have the ear of Israeli leaders, we believe their denunciation of anti-democratic measures can make a difference where Israelis and Palestinians are suffering the most. Just last week, Peter Beinart suggested in his significant piece in the New York Review of Books that the greatest danger to the Jewish community today is not from outside, but from inside. Beinart was referring to the increasing disconnect of Jewish leaders from Jewish people, especially young people, when it comes to Israel and Palestine. Their ongoing unconditional support of Israel's actions, even when they violate the basic tenets of Judaism and democratic values, has become untenable.

 
Israel's violations of human rights and dignity are increasing each day with: Midnight raids on activists, including Palestinians, Israeli citizens, and internationals

Media gag orders, which keep the Israeli press from being able to write about these arrests
Crushing non-violent protests by the Israeli Army, using rubber bullets, tear gas, and even live ammunition to put down protests Silencing NGO's who report on these outrages, using restrictive legislation in the Israeli Knesset.

Banning internationals who are insufficiently supportive of Israel.

 
And through all of this, Jewish leaders remain silent.

  Enough is enough. It has been decades since the first Palestinian refugees were barred from returning to their homes. It's time our community leaders reflected our values and did as much to combat oppression when it is practiced by Jews as when it practiced against us.

 
Please sign our letter urging the leaders of three major human rights organizations--Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, David Harris of the American Jewish Committee, and Rabbi Marvin Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center-- to speak out against these crimes.

Jewish Voice for Peace condenam o ataque Israelita à "Flotilha da Liberdade"

Desculpem mas tem de ser assim:

Jewish Voice for Peace condemns Israel's attack and killing of members of the Freedom Flotilla aiming to bring much needed aid to the besieged Gaza Strip.

Before the flotilla was attacked, Yigal Palmor, an Israeli foreign ministry spokesman, said,

"If we let them throw egg at us, we appear stupid with egg on our face. If we try to prevent them by force, we appear as brutes."

Israel has more than egg on its face. Israel has blood on its hands. At least 10 passengers have been killed by Israel and about 30 wounded in international waters. This is just another deadly escalation of Israel's harsh repression of nonviolent protests against the occupation, paid with American tax-dollars.

The White House has stated that it "deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries sustained, and is currently working to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy." 

This is not enough.

President Obama should call for an immediate lifting of the siege of Gaza. He should support an international and impartial investigation into the tragic killing of civilians in a humanitarian mission. And he should suspend military aid to Israel until he can assure the American public that our aid is not used to commit similar abuses.
