Resumo:

Através da análise de duas obras literárias, (Estação das águas e Tenda dos Milagres) a autora pretende delinear as diferenças dos processos imaginários de integração social do negro em dois países da mesma língua: Brasil e Angola. Os procedimentos literários são as ferramentas utilizadas para tal.

Contemporânea é uma revista on-line do grupo de pesquisa Comunicação, Arte e Cidade da Faculdade de Comunicação Social da UERJ que recomendo. É produzida por alunos e professores com suporte do Laboratório de Comunicação Integrada da FCS.

Dr. Shtayyeh:  “18 years after the Oslo Accords, Israel’s occupation has turned into annexation”

 Senior Palestinian official Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people, reiterating the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and freedom.  He made these comments marking the 18th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Principles (“Oslo I”) between the PLO and Israel.   

 “Today we commemorate 18 years since the launch of a process that was supposed to lead us to freedom and independence. It was meant to last only for a transitional period of five years.  Unfortunately, almost two decades later, the Israeli occupation of Palestine is entrenched and Israel’s occupation has turned into de facto annexation,” said the Palestinian leader.

 Dr. Shtayyeh noted that from 1993 until 2011, Israel’s settler population more than doubled to over 505,000 in the occupied West Bank.  Furthermore, Israel’s illegal settlement regime, including the Wall and the Israeli-only bypass roads, now effectively control almost half of the occupied West Bank. 

 “Together with the colonization of Palestinian land, other unilateral Israeli policies, including home demolitions, evictions, ID revocations, killings, the illegal exploitation of natural resources, and closure of Palestinian institutions in occupied East Jerusalem have threatened the prospect of a two-state solution,” he stated.

 “Over the past 18 years, Israel has violated all articles of the interim agreements in addition to its responsibilities as an occupying power, responsibilities that remained incumbent upon throughout the Oslo years,”  said Dr. Shtayyeh who has been involved in peace negotiations with Israel since the Madrid talks.

 Dr. Shtayyeh pointed out that Israel’s unilateralism has reduced the Palestinian National Authority’s scope of authority while falsely claiming to be committed to peace:   “The population registry, water, economic relations, border crossings, air and sea space, and the electromagnetic sphere are all fully controlled by the Israeli occupation.”

 “Eighteen years ago, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that he was going to kill the Oslo Accords. Today, we can say that Mr. Netanyahu has all but succeeded in his aim.  He can claim credit for threatening the viability of peace”, said the senior official, adding, “Successive Israeli governments have enacted policies with the aim of maintaining Israeli occupation of Palestine indefinitely. They believed that in so doing, Israel could permanently obstruct the realization of Palestinian rights.”  

 Dr. Shtayyeh reminded the international community of its standing moral and legal obligations towards the Question of Palestine, including ending the 44 year-old Israeli occupation.   “We are approaching the moment of truth. After years of Israeli unilateralism and illegal policies aimed at sabotaging a bilateral peace agreement, Palestinians will take their struggle back to where it all began—to the assembly hall of the United Nations.”

That's the number of times the United States has used its veto in the United Nations Security Council to block efforts to secure Palestinian rights over the last 40 years. Now the United States and Israel want the Palestinian Authority (PA) to drop its bid for recognition at the United Nations —and if the vote goes to the United Nations Security Council as soon as next week, we think the U.S. might make that veto forty-two. That's just plain wrong. Please join 20,000 others in telling U.S. Hillary Clinton and UN Ambassador Susan Rice that the U.S. must NOT veto yet another push for Palestinian rights. To be sure, the Palestinian Authority bid for UN recognition is complicated. Israel and the United States- and their Jewish institutional backers—say they are opposed because such a move would be "unilateral". But what is more unilateral than a 44-year-long military occupation of another people? And what forum more multilateral than the United Nations?  Israel and the United States also say the Palestinians should return, instead, to the peace process. But the so-called "peace process" has meant several decades of expanding settlements and illegally confiscated land.  That said, and despite the emptiness of Israeli and U.S. rhetoric, there are real criticisms of the PA's effort. Palestinian leaders and civil society organizations have raised a number of concerns ranging from questions about the Palestinian Authority itself to the possible negative significance of the UN vote for refugee rights. As a Jewish-American organization, we know that Palestinians will be the ones who have to figure out their most effective strategies.   But we also know we need to continue to speak out for one thing everyone agrees upon: stopping the United States from continuing to play an obstructive role in securing a lasting and just peace. No matter what happens, the significance of the vote will be dwarfed by what happens the next day. There will still be an occupation. There will still be refugees. There will still be no Palestinian state. But there will be an extraordinary nonviolent people's movement in Palestine, in Israel, in the United States, everywhere in the world—and we should use the moment to escalate our demands for justice, fairness, and a future for all people in the region.   Our Palestinian and peace-loving Israeli allies on the ground will need our support more than  ever—and we'll be ready to provide it.  But for today, let's send the United States a message. Enquanto Ashton negoceia pela UE, Alemanha torpedeia...

De acordo com informações vinculadas pelo jornal israelita Haaretz enquanto a responsável das Relações Exteriores da UE, Catherine Ashton procurava chegar a um acordo com a Autoridade Palestina para que esta viesse a baixar a sua reinvindicação de ver reconhecida, na próxima AG da ONU, a Palestina como um Estado de pleno direito, para a de ser acolhida como um membro não-permanente, em troca do apoio em bloco dos 27 a esta proposta, o Ministro dos Negócios Estrangeiros da Alemanha, Guido Westerwelle, terá afirmado a Mhamoud Abbas que não apoiaria a proposta de admissão da Palestina na ONU.

 

Por outro lado diz-nos ainda o Haaretz que Ashton estaria a negociar um acordo com os EUA, em que este se absteria de votar e manteria o apoio financeiro aos palestinos  em troca da promessa do presidente palestino Mahmoud Abbas de não levar Israel ao Tribunal Penal Internacional.  

 

(Estranho acordo que só vem confirmar que existiram crimes de guerra e contra a humanidade cometidos pelos governantes de Israel e pelas suas Forças Armadas e Agências, que agora se pretendem branquear. Sem esquecer a responsabilidade primeira dos EUA nesta triste história, ao longo dos últimos 63 anos.)
